Known for her novel, Singing the Dogstar Blues, Alisons latest offering, Two Pearls of Wisdom, is set in the mystical far east in Japan. Heres the place to chat about Alison's writing and this book in particular. Why do you think Alison should win the award? What were your opinions on Eon?
Hey - just thought I'd mention, I am reading the review copy of this right now, and REALLY enjoying it. A new take on an old idea (warrior who is secretly a female - don't worry, that's not a spoiler, we know from the start!) It is very character-centric (something I strive for in my own fiction) and Eon is the type of character you root for from the off. I love the descriptions of the dragons, too - very brightly drawn and exciting!
I have never read any of Alison' work before, but I certainly hope she continues to write Fantasy - the genre needs women authors like her...
(Not finished the book yet, but will hopefully write more once I'm done!)

I was hugely honoured to meet Alison on her whirlwind tour here in the UK a few months ago. I had read the review copy and fell in love with her writing, the setting of the novel and the main character. The novel is written eloquently and from our chat, I know Alison's put in a lot of thought into the character of Eon.
It's a very worthy nomination for the award - it's a masquerade story with adventure and heart. Pure excellence.
This is the interview I did with Alison over breakfast.
