Hail Mighty Readers,
We at the award have been working pretty hard over the last few years to keep everything going and were wondering what you'd like to see us add.  Whilst we can't impliment all idea's we'd like to keep our members involved and allow you the chance to put in your tuppence worth so that we can keep improving the site to make it better for your experience.

Look forward to seeing what you suggest,

Gareth

Question, I was looking at the nomination list just now and saw that Towers of Midnight by Robert Jordan and Brandon Sanderson is on it twice, though under two different publishing company's, will the totals be put together for a final tally or what why will it work, or is a mistake and should it just be under one of the company's?

The nominations have come from the duo's UK and US publishers, when we put the poll up we only put one vote button for each title, that way you don't have to worry which one you push.

thanks for the quick reply, wasn't really sure if it was a mistake or not.

As to who gets to accept the trophy should Brandon win and be unable to make it, could be interesting, you see, in the case of Towers of Midnight, I like Orbit but I also like Tor US.  But which ones better?  Theres only one way to find out....

FFFFIIIIGGGHHHHTTTT!!!!

(For those outside the UK, this might help.)

How about an award for contributions to the Fantasy Genre......this would include alternate history, reality or Sci-Fi writers who have written influential crossover.....the Wooden Horse Award (a sneeky one you weren't expecting to jump ya!)

But seriously.......how about a Hall of Fame?!

If Rock n Roll can have one....why cant we?!

Something classic too for the name, reflecting David's homage to epic.....

How about the Odyssey......the Elyssian Field......etc etc....each year we could induct a number of writers ....say 2 classic, 2 modern and 1 for contribution to the genre.

We're considering establishing a Lifetime Achievement award, Phil, which I think would cover what you're suggesting, though it won't be this year.  As with the present awards, it'd be based on suggestions and votes from the public.  We'd be interested in what people think about the idea.

Gareth,

Thanks. There are lots of fantasy authors associated with the DGLA. Do you think it might help to drive more activity to the Forum and the rest of the website if you had some kind of regular activity with some of these authors? For example, a monthly Q&A session with one of the authors, hosted here, and advertised through relevant fantasy websites?

Just a thought - feel free to tell me if it has already been thought of, and isn't possible for whatever reason.

Cheers, Patrick.

Thanks for the thoughts Patrick, it is something we can look at adding (provided the authors schedules allow) and hope it will be a new feature that the members will enjoy.  It won't be implimented until next year although we will have some interviews with finalists after the first round of noms have closed and the next round announced.
