It's good to see Robin Hobb back in her original world, with new and fascinating characters. Waiting eagerly for the next one!

There's a great review of 'The Dragon Keeper' in the reviews section: http://www.gemmellaward.com/notes/Notes_Home

I'm thinking I might give it a try as it sounds intriguing - I'm completely new to Robin Hobb's work though...

Eeekkkkk, tell me you just didn't say that Debs. LOL A lot of people will tell you to get Liveships series but I'd suggest the Farseer trilogy first. One that I'd probably leave until last was the one I wasn't that struck on, the Soldier Son trilogy.

The Farseer Trilogy was brilliant.

Yes, I liked the Farseer trilogy best, and the third one that used the same characters. The Live Ship trilogy was OK, but I didn't care much for Second Sons:-(

Damm - she's so prolific! Talk about late to the party! So, none of you think I should just leap into 'The Dragon Keeper' then? I thought since it is the first one in a new series... So, guess I'd better find the Farseer Trilogy at some point soon!

I think The Dragon Keeper is pretty good. I don't like it as much as the Farseer books, but if it's the one to hand, there's no reason not to start with it. You can always read The Liveship Traders later to learn more about the background to the new series.

You can read this book without reading the Farseer books, since the only thing that is needed from the Farseer books is that in the 2nd series there were dragons mating, yeah about it.
Mostly I think one should read the books in that order to get to understand her whole world, as the farseer books takes place far away from the Liveships and this series.

The again I am just trying to get everyone to read the farseer books ;) My fav, following the Fool series and this new series.
Not a big fan of the Liveships, or the Soldier son books
