Hi Glenda,
I think you may have mistaken my asking for a fishing expedition to get you to confess to copying Herbert. I thought i made it clear that i saw the differences in storyboard in the synopsis you provided the link for. I am not accusing you of ripping off my 2nd favorite author!!!( favorite is DG) Now i really need to read your book so i can set that to rights! If its as good as i think, it will be great.

Corresponding? No, never. It must be more than 20 years since I read any of the Dune series...

I guess the moment a writer ventures into a near waterless environment, the comparisons to Dune are inevitable. The situation in the Stormlord books is more local - there are other parts of this planet that have loads of water. The cause of water shortage here in the area known as the Quartern is climate change. This is hinted at, but it's a past event.

Certainly there are parallels to Dune - deserts all tend to have similarities! - but I tried very, very hard not to make it a rip off even though the Quartern has dunes and people who live on them.

HI Glenda,
I am amajor fan of what you re doing. What i would like to know is, did you ever correspond with Herbert or his son? i have not read your book yet, but i think i detect some Herbertian influence?

No problem, Joe.

As I say, you will find similarities. There are only so many ways to conserve water in a desert environment, and dunes and dunes no matter where they are....

Anyway I really look forward to hearing from you once you have read it, for your honest opinion!

Cheers,
Glenda

Absolutely delighted is what i am, i have found the writer i have been looking for. The story i have just finished is, in my opinion, as close to David s style as i had ever hoped to find. This story started like the trickle of a spring rain and then built to a Torrent of action that would any S&S writer proud. The interplay tween minor characters kept me off trail enough that i was glued to the story the whole last 1/3 of it. Couldnt put it down! I sat there in the living room with tears running down my face, due to i dont know what but i was so happy i didnt care. I knew i could find you if i looked hard enough. Really outstanding!
