" I was excited to get this project because I had really wanted to do a traditional fantasy cover for a while. Luckily, the setting and the characters were really great, along with a really cool story. Even though the ideas came quickly to me for this, I ended up changing a lot from my original sketch and focused on the characters more. The original idea had the two figures further away and spread apart from each other. It was a bit of a struggle to pull it all together but in the end I had fun with it. Plus snow scenes always are cool to do."

Chris McGrath is a fantasy and science fiction illustrator best known for his work on Jim Butcher's series The Dresden Files. He has also done cover art for a number of other books; his work stands out for both its atmospheric qualities and its realism of weight and proportion.
