HBO Game of Thrones Success, however what do you think?

Well, for those of you who’ve been counting down the days, the odds are you already caught the first episode of the long awaited Game of Thrones TV series.    With its launch to critical acclaim, HBO has now announced (only two days after original airing in the US) that they’re renewing for a second series.

So the question is, with the success of this Fantasy series, is it the time to start pushing for a David Gemmell series?  Is there a fantasy series that would suit better…

Genre for Japan

Hail Mighty Readers,

We here at the David Gemmell Legend Award like to help others out where we can, so we thought that it was only fair if we were to create a quick blog post to pass on the information for 'Genre for Japan'

[Here's their Homepage which explains the idea fully]

In 'Genre for Japan' a whole host of authors and publishers…

When do fans say enough is enough?

Fans of fantasy have long since gotten use to delays in favourite series, but with the recent announcement by George RR Martin that his new title will be out in July 2011, alongside the new release of the second title by Patrick Rothfuss, I thought that now would be an interesting time to explore how fans feel about this.

After all, we’re all familiar with finding out a publication date and then waiting almost feverishly counting down the days, hunting behind the sofa praying that… Continue

Why I love Fantasy Titles.

Whilst a lot of people here at the DGLA committee are writers, I’m a reader, or perhaps more accurately a serial reader.  In short, I love to spend hours curled up with a good book and will slay my way through titles to get my fix of adventure, thrills and chills and the odd bit of romance.

Each genre has something different to offer and depending on your mood can affect how you react to what you read.  Differing ones serves their own purpose but if you were to have a camera…

EEEKKKK, Whats happening?

OK, Just so you don't worry, we're not missing out this year. We've been hard at work on preparing for the next award ceremony and we've been discussing the award in an AGM today. It's been a lot of hard work and we wanted to check what we're doing right, where we can make improvements and of course making sure that we stay true to our brief, that it's an award by the fans of fantasy.

More news when everything has been processed and we hope that any additions that are implimented will… Continue

Here at the DGLA, when we get the chance to chat with an author, we not only grab it but persue it. So here is the first interview with one of this years nominee's. Andy tackles our ten questions so please keep on checking back as other interviews will be added as responses arrive:

DGLA: How would you "sell" your novel in 20…

Nomination for next year

With the applause fading into the distance from this years award and with our inaugural presentation, its now coming to a time when people think that things may go a little quiet on the site. Well you would be wrong. Thoughts have already turned to next year’s nominations as well as the award presentation. Fan’s are secretly whispering about who they feel should be nominated, so in the spirit of Loki (as lets face it there isn’t a fantasy fan anywhere that isn’t a little bit mischievous, LOL)… Continue

The Short List

After a long fought out epic campaign the David Gemmell Legend Award has come down to the final five. They’re slaughtered, butchered and above all fought heroically for their place in the final five despite some dodgy backroom tactics from alleged fans.

Shortly we’ll get to work on a new area for each author and allot them their own “Guild” which you the reading public can sign up for along with having the chance to show your support for your favourite author as well as letting… Continue

Yet with a number of you thinking but I won't know as I'm not going to be attending either, never fear, for around 7PM on the Sunday, we'll make sure that the shortlist appears here for everyone else. Yep quite the coupe as they say. So remember if you want the… Continue
